About Montana InSite Theatre

About

Located in Bozeman, Montana, USA and founded in 2019, Montana InSite Theatre is dedicated to performances in site-specific locations. We present material inspired by classical texts that addresses pressing local and global environmental crises.

Company MIssion

Theatre that incites, gives insights, and is on-site. Using live theatre and film to create relevant performances inspired by classical texts.

Montana InSite Theatre's Green Theatre Practices

We perform in outdoor locations such as city parks, national forests, and post-industrial reclaimed sites. We use no lighting or sound, and our costumes are created from repurposed material.

How Montana InSite Theatre uses theatre to highlight ecological issues

Our productions provide immersive experiences that encourage audience members to consider the vital role that the nonhuman world plays in our community. The film Oguta Island (an adaptation of The Tempest) addresses environmental exploitation in Nigeria.

Ecological Goals

We want our work to be innovative and to make a difference in our audience members and artists. Not only do we want to heighten engagement with the links between the language of poetry/drama and our ecosystems, but we want to encourage the activism that grows out of such passions
